Asenso Monkayo and Level Up Compostela powered their way to convincing victories as the Governor’s Cup 2026 Men’s 25-Under Basketball Tournament resumed on September 26 at the Compostela Municipal Gym in Davao de Oro.
Monkayo overpowered Mawab, 110–72, behind James Tehoc’s all-around performance of 18 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Backed by a strong team offensive effort, Asenso Monkayo built a commanding lead early and maintained control throughout the contest to seal the 38-point victory.
The win improved Monkayo’s record to 5–1, while Mawab dropped to 1–3.
Meanwhile, Level Up Compostela defended its home court with a dominant 116–76 victory over Team Atchup Maragusan, keeping its unbeaten run intact.
Clyde Bongawan paced Compostela with 16 points and three assists as the team’s relentless offense overwhelmed Maragusan. The 40-point victory pushed Compostela’s record to a perfect 5–0, while Maragusan fell to 3–2.
The decisive wins gave Monkayo and Compostela added momentum as competition continued in the provincial tournament.
Initiated by Governor Raul Mabanglo, the tournament brings together teams from across Davao de Oro with the support of Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo, Congressman Jhong Ceniza, and the mayors of the province’s 11 municipalities.
