Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino, Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kutura at Pagkatao (Filipino Food Month) will be celebrated from April 25 to 27, 2025 at Abreeza Mall, Davao City. This three-day event is organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
The celebration shines a spotlight on native Filipino food and ingredients that are slowly being forgotten or are rarely seen today. It will also highlight local fruits like kaimito (star apple), atis (sugar apple), and balimbing (starfruit), which were once common in Filipino homes and backyards. These will be featured alongside traditional dishes that carry the rich flavors of our culture and history.
Cooking demonstrations and food showcases will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors can watch chefs prepare classic Filipino dishes using local ingredients and traditional family recipes. It’s a delicious journey back to our roots.
On April 25, the opening day will gather guests from Davao Region and Davao City to celebrate in full flavor.
This celebration is in line with Proclamation No. 469, which declares April as Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino. It calls for Filipino culinary traditions to be “appreciated, preserved, and promoted” for future generations, while also supporting our farmers and food communities.
Everyone is invited especially students! Come, taste, learn, and rediscover the rich and flavorful heritage of Filipino cuisine. Don’t miss this delicious celebration!
