MANILA, Philippines — Forty years into the industry, Hanabishi Appliances continues to help families by providing quality products that offer convenience and comfort to their everyday lives. The homegrown brand has also looked for opportunities to give back through various community efforts in partnership with like-minded organizations.

One such organization is the GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), which was initiated by veteran broadcast journalist Mel Tiangco. For 14 years, Hanabishi has collaborated with GMAKF for meaningful and innovative projects across the country.

Hanabishi continued its partnership with GMAKF through the signing of a new memorandum of agreement (MOA). Hanabishi Appliances President Jasper Ong and GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catbog led the signing of their partnership renewal at the Kapuso Center Building in Quezon City. Also present during the signing were Hanabishi executives Candice Ong-Ang, VP for Operations; Cherish Ong-Chua, VP for Finance and Marketing; and Jevon Ong, VP for Purchasing and Merchandising.

“We take great pride in working with GMA Kapuso Foundation, an organization that continues to drive meaningful change in the lives of many Filipinos,” said Jasper Ong. “As we celebrate our 40th year, we are reminded of the importance of building partnerships to make a real difference in the communities we serve. We look forward to working with them once again as we continue to give back and provide opportunities to our fellow Filipinos.”

14 Years of Creating Positive Change

Hanabishi has supported GMA Kapuso Foundation’s various initiatives towards education, community, rehabilitation, and relief operations for more than a decade now. 

One of the most noteworthy projects that the brand participated in was the Rebuild Marawi Project, which sought to rehabilitate three elementary schools in Marawi City. It has also provided appliances to schools to ensure that children can study in comfortable environments, among others.

We are very happy because when we do our renovation of schools 10 years and above, we see the original fans still working and still attached to the ceilings of our schools. And rest assured that as we go forward with more projects, we will look for more relevant ways to use Hanabishi in our different infrastructure projects.” 

The Hanabishi executives also expressed their gratitude to GMAKF for their 14-year partnership.
