TARRAGONA, DAVAO ORIENTAL — Mayor Art Benjie “Kaka” Bulaong formally kicked off the 45th San Pedro Claver Parish Fiesta during an opening ceremony held September 13 at the Plaza de Tarragona.

The celebration officially began with a Fiesta Unity Walk, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the ceremonial banging of the gong, marking the start of the parish’s week-long festivities and bringing together the Church, local government, barangays, families, youth, and various sectors of the community.

In his message, Bulaong extended his warm greetings to the parish community and the people of Tarragona, emphasizing that the opening activities represent more than the beginning of the fiesta.

“Simbolo kini nga usa kita ka Tarragona,” Bulaong said, highlighting the importance of unity, faith, peace, and development among Tarragonians.

The mayor also reaffirmed the commitment of the Municipal Government of Tarragona to work closely with the San Pedro Claver Parish, stressing that the local government’s support extends beyond fiesta celebrations to programs and activities of the Church.

According to Bulaong, the Church plays an important role in the spiritual and social life of the community, making the partnership between the parish and the local government vital in promoting the welfare of Tarragona residents.

The fiesta celebration also featured an opening performance through a Chorale Competition, showcasing the talents, faith, and unity of the local community.

Bulaong encouraged residents to actively participate in the festivities while observing respect and responsibility throughout the celebration.

He expressed hope that the 45th parish fiesta would further strengthen the faith and unity of the people of Tarragona.

“Mag-iban kita para sang Tarragona kay Kanato Ini,” he said.

The celebration continues with various religious, cultural, and community activities in honor of San Pedro Claver, the patron saint of the parish.
