Davao City – Every other Friday is PEPTalks, a media forum organized by the Department of Tourism – Davao Region on partnership with SM Lanang, a platform where the heartbeat of Davao is broadcast, covering everything from festivals to initiatives and tourism promotions, all smoothly facilitated by host Sir Ian Ray Garcia.
The PEPTalks held on June 27, 2025, was rich with announcements, painting a clear picture of Davao’s dynamic calendar for the coming weeks and months.

Among those who spoke was Davao City Tourism Officer Jennifer Ricardo Romero, who radiated enthusiasm while providing updates on the ongoing “Duaw Davao,” the newest festival in Davao City. She particularly highlighted the Fiesta sa San Pedro Paghiusayaw, a grand celebration scheduled for this Sunday, June 29. Romero detailed how this event is set to be a vibrant showcase of Davao’s rich cultural heritage and community spirit.

Luis Enrico Arriaga Salazar, the COO/ Sales and Marketing Executive for MONTEFRIO GARDEN RESORT, extended a warm invitation to the public. He enthusiastically spoke about the resort’s upcoming Retro Revival Party, a special event marking Montefrio’s 5th anniversary celebration. Scheduled for July 12, 2025, the party promises a night filled with nostalgic fun and festivities, encouraging attendees to embrace the spirit of past eras.

The forum also heard from Rayanne Patiño-Arao, representing both Rogen Inn and the broader Davao Hotel and Resorts Sales and Marketing Association (HRSMA). She announced attractive deals as part of their “Duaw Dabaw room sale,” assuring the media that these promotions make it more convenient and affordable for both local residents planning staycations and tourists visiting the city to experience Davao’s renowned hospitality. Patiño-Arao also referenced the Davao HRSMA Inc. Duaw Davao Tourism Partners Hour, which successfully brought together key players in the local tourism industry yesterday at Rizal Park.

Mary Joy Nakata from SpoGomi Philippines also introduced a truly innovative concept that blends environmental consciousness with competitive fun. She promoted the Nippon Foundation Spogomi World Cup 2025 – Philippine Qualifiers Davao Round 1. Nakata explained that this unique “sports gomi” (trash pick-up) competition would challenge participants to collect litter while engaging in a friendly contest. This exciting event is scheduled to take place today, June 28, at Leon Garcia, inviting Dabawenyos to contribute to a cleaner city in an engaging way. This is just Round 1, with more rounds scheduled for upcoming months. The grand winners will then be brought to Japan for the Final Competition.

Finally, Jon Gotamco and Dondon Soriano from the Ballistics Shooting Range Gun Club Firing Range were also present, inviting responsible gun enthusiasts to mark their calendars for the 2nd Kadayawan Shootfest. This high-profile event, slated for August 16-17, is expected to draw a significant number of national and even international participants, showcasing impressive marksmanship in a controlled and professional environment.
As these regular media forum continues, PEPTalks remains a source for locals and visitors to stay updated on all the events. It truly highlights Davao City’s commitment to promoting its dynamic and inviting atmosphere. Duaw (Visit) Davao.
