As the lights dimmed and the stage came to life, I found myself transported to a different era, a place where memories were engraved in every note, and emotions grown with each melody. It was the A1 Band Concert, a nostalgic journey through the soundtrack of my past, and it left me with a heart full of mixed emotions.
The venue was the SMX Convention Center of SM Lanang in Davao City, and as the music began to fill the air, I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by a sense of nostalgia. It had been two decades since these songs first graced the airwaves, and now they were there, performed live before my eyes. This happened on the evening of October 12, 2023, at 8 PM.
As a blogger, I felt forced to document every moment of the night, to capture the essence of this unforgettable experience. The band serenaded us with a total of 20 songs, and it was a journey back in time that I’ll cherish forever.
The concert started with “Same Old Brand New You,” and from that moment on, I was transported back to the carefree days of my youth. Each song that followed carried with it a flood of memories, moments of laughter, love, and sometimes heartbreak.
“Be the First to Believe,” “Summer Time of Our Life,” and “Everytime” were like a time machine, taking me back to summer vacations, college stuff, and those moments of being young. The emotions stirred by “Ready or Not,” “Forever in Love,” and “No More” were as fresh as the day I first heard them.
The band’s latest song, “Call Me When You Land,” resonated with a sense of maturity, a reminder that time had indeed passed, but the music remained timeless. “Make it Good,” “If You Were my Girl,” and “One More Try” brought a flood of memories and a longing for the simplicity of those days.
“Learn to Fly,” “Don’t Wanna Lose You Again,” and “Heaven By Your Side” were a bittersweet reminder of the journeys we’ve all taken since those songs first graced our ears. “Living the Dream” and “Caught in the Middle” spoke to the challenges and triumphs of growing up.
“One Last Song,” “Walking in the Rain,” and “Like a Rose” touched the depths of the heart, reminding us that some emotions never truly fade. These 3 songs actually are chart toppers back then here in the Philippines and also in my heart. Finally, they closed the night with “Take on Me,” a song that echoed with the cheerfulness of youth.
It wasn’t just their own hits that we enjoyed in that night, they also took us on a medley journey through boy band classics like “Quit Playing Games,” “Back For Good,” “Story of My Life,” “This I Promise You,” and “I Want it that Way.” It was a musical rollercoaster that left us singing along and dancing in the crowd.

As the concert concluded, I couldn’t help but look around at the audience, the faces that had grown up with these songs. The ’90s teens and babies were now adults, yet for one magical evening, we were all transported back to our younger selves.
The A1 Band Concert was a big blast for Davao, and I’m grateful to have been part of it. It was a night of music, memories, and emotions that will stay with me for a lifetime.
If you ever have the chance to attend an A1 concert, seize the opportunity to relive your past and make new memories in the present. It’s an experience that’s truly worth recommending to friends.
